eRDS PLUGIN FOR REVIT ARCHITECTURE.

When defining a room data project in eRDS Cloud on projects which have a BIM model, its essential that the two data resources are precisely in sync with each other. Previously this was a time consuming manual process with users taking care to ensure information from the model is correctly taken-off beforehand and input into the project. An automated process is far more desirable.

eRDS MANAGER.

Our new Revit plugin automates the process. When installed a new eRDS Manager is appended to the Revit ribbon which provides all the tools required for room data integration. Its first function is to extract the required information from an architectural model into an excel file which is imported into eRDS Cloud to set-up a new project. Building information including location, levels, room names & numbers, as well as the dimensions for each room are auto-extracted from the model. This information together with any other parameters existing on the rooms is used in an eRDS Cloud project as the starting point for adding room data.

CREATING ROOM DATA IN eRDS CLOUD.

There are five sets of information in an eRDS Cloud project; Details, Finishes, Fittings, M&E Components, and ME Spec. Information is first defined in the eRDS Library and then allocated to the rooms either individually or in groups. This room data can be exported to a multi-tab excel file at any point during the room data definition process in just a couple of clicks. The resulting file is used for many integrations including with Revit and IFC BIM models, to populate eRDS Field software, or for 3D analysis in programs like 3DAsset.

REVIT BIM ENRICHMENT.

In the case of Revit the five sets of room data on the multi-tab excel file are imported back into the model through the eRDS Manager plugin. During this simple process, the room data is converted into Revit parameters and written to the correct spaces in the model.
