3D ASSET.
A Navisworks application for BIM analysis and asset coding.
DATABASE ANALYSIS IN NAVISWORKS.
3D Asset is a database application for Navisworks. It’s been developed to enrich 3D oil & gas and BIM models with asset information for operations and maintenance and includes tools for analysing models and adding information tags to 3D objects as custom, shared and contents properties.
ASSET CODING TOOLS.
3D Asset is closely integrated with the Asset Code Populator and FM Placeholder and has been given functionality to handle the definition and verification of thousands of geo-referenced asset codes.
INFORMATION MANAGER.
Tags and properties linked to objects in the model are managed and manipulated through an Information Manager. This provides a gateway to project information with batch editing and intuitive visualisation functions for integrity checking.
DATA IMPORT.
3D Asset uses a bespoke textual database that provides the power to manage information without the complexities of SQL. Information on csv files can be imported directly into tags with properties and values. This information is automatically linked to objects or groups of objects in the model.
DATABASE PROPERTIES.
3D Asset uses a bespoke textual database that provides the power to manage information without the complexities of SQL. Any kind of database property can be created and linked to a 3D model including text, dates & alarms, validated lists, colour coded lists, sequential values, barcodes and html links.
TAGS & PROPERTIES.
Models are enriched by linking new information in the form of tags with properties to single or multiple 3D objects. There are three types of tags to cope with any eventuality:
- Custom tags are a combination of model attributes and new database properties that are defined in the system and linked to individual objects.
- Shared tags and properties are defined and added to multiple objects as one set of information. This type of tag is used when an asset in the model has been constructed from several 3D objects, or to add a single set of information to ‘grouped’ objects.
- Contents tags consist of multiple sets of information linked to a single object in a model. These are commonly used to link the five sets of room data in eRDS Cloud to the floor objects in a room.
SEARCH, FIND, GET RESULTS AND ADD NEW INFORMATION.
3DA includes powerful drill down search functions to identify objects by their model attributes or by the custom, shared or contents properties previously added to them. Once a results list has been created, more custom & shared properties or documentation can be added to the results.
DATABASE AND GRAPHICAL INTERFACE COMBINED.
Intuitive graphical selection builds on what’s possible with model and database searching allowing users to point and click select or use a window selection to populate a results list. This functionality is invaluable for asset coding workflows.
FILTER AND EXPORT.
Once the required information has been added to the model it can be exported to Excel through the information manager. Powerful filtering functions allow you to generate the output needed to populate other applications and the information can be directly imported back into Revit through the Asset Code Populator.
COLOUR CODING.
Any attributed model information, or custom and shared properties added to objects in 3DA, can be colour coded. Thematic colour views are used to analyse information, for information integrity and validity checking when creating asset codes, and for creating visual reports to show progress during construction and fit-out.
ROOM DATA CODING.
No BIM model gets even close to defining the FFE in each room. 3D Asset’s Contents capability allows a direct import of the five sets of room data (details, finishes, fittings, ME specifications & components) created in eRDS Cloud. The information is usually attached to floor objects in the model created in Revit by eRDS Manager or FM Placeholder.
Once the room data is imported it is configured into user defined forms with additional properties so that asset codes, manufacturer information and warranty details can be added.
At the end of the process the enlarged information set is re-exported so its available in other applications such as eRDS Field, Field Asset, YouBIM, or written back into the Revit model through the Asset Code Populator, so it can be included in a COBie export.
BARCODES AND QR CODES.
As well as providing the tools needed to define the asset codes that are used in facilities management, BMS and operations software, 3DA allows you to manage QR codes and barcodes.
DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT INCLUDED.
3D asset provides full integration with professional document management systems (DMS) and will generate HTML links when a document naming protocol is used for integrating with FM systems.
The software also features its own powerful built-in DMS which provides document management and categorisation plus model based document retrieval.
